Ontario Workplace Naloxone Program Provider

Starting June 1, 2023, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) will require employers to provide and maintain naloxone kits in the workplace if the employer becomes aware, or ought reasonably to be aware, that there may be a risk of a worker opioid overdose at a workplace where that worker performs work for the employer.

Those employers must also ensure that, at any time there are workers in the workplace, the naloxone kit is in the charge of a worker who:

  • works in the vicinity of the kit, and
  • has received training to recognize an opioid overdose, to administer naloxone and to acquaint the worker with any hazards related to the administration of naloxone.

Learn more about how employers can determine if they need to provide naloxone in the workplace.

Ontario’s Workplace Naloxone Program

For a limited time, Ontario’s Workplace Naloxone Program will provide initial support to employers who are required to comply with the naloxone requirements in the OHSA by providing free naloxone training for up to two workers per workplace and/or one free nasal naloxone kit per workplace.

Rescue 7 Inc is a proud program training provider for the Ontario Workplace Naloxone Program. Our role is to support employers that are required under the OHSA to provide a naloxone kit in their workplace by offering free workplace naloxone training for up to two workers.

Each employer who is required to comply with the OHSA requirements (an “Eligible Employer”) may register for a maximum of free training for two workers per workplace where compliance will be required (an “Eligible Workplace”)

Multiple workplace locations

If you have multiple Eligible Workplaces that meet the OHSA requirements for naloxone, you are eligible to register additional workers for training for each Eligible Workplace location.

Multiple registrations/orders for the same workplace location will not be funded through Ontario’s Workplace Naloxone Program.

Register for Training

Eligible Employers will be required to attest at time of registration that they have not previously registered for or received free training through Ontario’s Workplace Naloxone Program for the Eligible Workplace location requested.

Register for the free Rescue 7 Inc.’s Ontario Workplace Naloxone Training program HERE or e-mail training@rescue7.net.

Emergency/Basic First Aid with CPR & AED (Blended eLearning)

First aid has traditionally been taught in a classroom style, but at Rescue7 Inc. we know that people learn in different ways and at different speeds.

Our approved Blended Learning Emergency First Aid with CPR & AED training session has been designed so that you can complete it at your own pace, in your own time. Not only will you learn more effectively but you will also have more fun learning.

The course has two components:

  1. A first aid theory “Online” Component
  2. A first aid practical classroom skills session Component

The Online Theory Component

The on-line course covers all relevant theory the participant needs to complete before taking the practical training session. Each of the modules will be thoroughly explained with minimal technical terminology and include a helpful quick review section.

The theory may take two to three hours to complete, depending on knowledge base but remember – you do not have to do the theory all in one go (a module a day is probably the fastest you would want to complete to maximize your learning). You can come and go as you please with this theory component so if you are interrupted just log out and log back in when you have more time.

Practical Training Component

In the Practical Training session an accredited Rescue7 Inc. instructor will answer any questions that you have as a result of the theory course and will then demonstrate a number of techniques, including: emergency scene management, shock, unconscious and fainting, adult choking, severe bleeding and much more.

Participants attending the Part-2 Practical Training will be given a Part-2 recap quiz to review everything the participant learned online, and only those with a passing mark will be able to participate in the Practical Training session. The passing mark on the Part-2 Recap Quiz is 50 percent.
