A malfunction of the heart’s electrical system, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) causes the heart to beat rapidly, then erratically and finally, to stop altogether. SCA strikes 400,000 people across North America each year, and it can happen to anyone. In fact, 15% of all workplace fatalities are due to SCA, per the Occupational Safety and Health Organization.
