Alberta Basic Security Guard Training Course – ABST

This online Alberta Basic Security Training Course, or ABST,  consists of seven (7) Modules.  Students must complete all modules, logging a minimum total of 40hrs and then an online provincial exam under the supervision of a proctor with 80% or above to receive provincial certification and apply for a Security License in Alberta. ABST Course Upon completion of our Alberta Security License Course, participants will have working knowledge of the Security Industry and should be able to: Describe the specific roles and responsibilities of a Security Professional. Explain Federal and Provincial Legislation and Regulations in relation to the work of a Security Professional List and describe the knowledge and skill sets required to perform Basic Security Patrol duties. Understand and apply a professional and effective style of communication in order to manage and control incidents. The First Responder – STOP HARM Program

The comprehensive course outline contained herein is designed to add critical skills and concepts to augment and increase a Standard – Intermediate First Aid level training session to include BLS, Tactical Care Rescue and EMRT. These enhanced assessments, procedures and skill sets will enable trained personnel to effectively manage and treat numerous pre-hospital traumatic and medical conditions prior to the arrival of professional health care team members. This program teaches a patient assessment model, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hemorrhage control, and care for a variety of acute medical and traumatic conditions. Training techniques including skills demonstrations, discussions, practice sessions and video/media presentations with scenarios based on actual real-life situations will engage participants in a dynamic learning environment. The program also addresses the following issues from protection – intervention -management models.  Strategies and tactics self and team protection involving threats, hazards, and use of force incidents.  First responders related issues deadly bleeding from various weapons attacks, substance abuse and harm from drugs and alcohol.  Conflict, confrontation and crisis management and Persons in crisis including mental illness and to mental health including understanding stress, trauma, and marginalization.
