Our Mental Health Awareness (CARE) program aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of mental health challenges and disorders that affect modern Canadian society. You will explore the stigma associated with mental health, learn how to adopt a new vocabulary to combat this stigma, identify the signs and symptoms of mental health issues, distinguish between someone experiencing distress and someone in crisis, and discover effective self-care strategies.
While it’s essential to be aware of all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulations, this training covers key laws and guidelines, including but not limited to the Canada Labour Code Part II, which outlines the responsibilities of both employers and employees.
Course Objectives:
- Provides effective strategies and tactics for safeguarding, intervening, managing, and defending against HARM both in the workplace and beyond.
- Explores conflict resolution techniques related to HARM in various environments.
- Examines approaches to handling confrontations associated with HARM in and outside the workplace.
- Covers crisis management, including personal crises, individuals in distress, and event-related crises concerning HARM in diverse settings.
- Focuses on understanding and managing stress, anger, fear, anxiety, defensive behaviors, and tension reduction in relation to HARM in and outside the workplace.
- Addresses mental health and mental illness issues as they pertain to HARM in various contexts.
- Explains the crisis model and available response options regarding HARM in and outside the workplace.
