This is some more information about Patrick Armstrong and the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund! ICYMI: Rescue 7’s good friend Patrick Armstrong was awarded with the honour of, “OPP Public Hero.” He started the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund (DMMF), with which Rescue 7 does a lot of work. Dave died in a car crash on the way to a call as an OPP Officer. He was Patrick’s Coach when Patrick was a rookie officer, and Patrick was first at the scene when Dave died. Since he started the Foundation, they have donated over 50 of our AEDs into communities around Ontario in the name of fallen First Responders (Police, Fire, Medics) and soldiers. Rescue 7 nominated him for this award!
Congratulations again, Patrick, for your esteemed achievement!
Rescue 7 was a proud sponsor of the 5th annual B-Strong! walk, in support of brain tumour research. The walk was on Sunday, April 24th and it took place in Markham.
For those of you who don’t know, Lindsay Bolger was a Markham native, St. Brother Andre High School graduate, and valedictorian of her graduating class at Saint Francis Xavier University. She was a gifted athlete who played varsity rugby and volleyball. Unfortunately, Lindsay fought hard against a brain tumour, which eventually took her life. Before her passing, she established the B-Strong Fund, which has raised over $300K through the annual B-Strong Bash, the sale of B-Strong hats, “Lindsay” Bears and the Ottawa Marathon weekend.
To date, B-Strong has raised over $973K for the brain tumour research! To donate, or to find out more about the cause, you can visit their website at: http://www.bstrong.ca
