Employers must ensure workers on construction projects complete a working at heights training program approved by the Chief Prevention Officer-approved before a worker uses a fall restricting system, fall arrest system, safety net, work belt or safety belt.
This comprehensive working at heights training program has this approval to the
APRIL 1, 2024 Standards.
This full day program, which is Chief Prevention Officer-approved, includes the basic information about how to work at heights safely, as well as practical application of skills. The course involves classroom instruction and hands-on exposure to some common equipment. The training includes both, but is not limited to:
- Hazard identification
- Rights and responsibilities related to working at height
- Ladder safety
- Legislative requirements for worker fall safety
- Fall safety warning methods and barriers
- Types and usage of personal protective equipment for fall protection
This course meets the requirements of Section 26.2 of the Construction Regulation 213.
Training participants must also complete a written program evaluation as required by the MOL’s Working at Heights Training Program Standard. This test is done in English.
