Here is (left to right) R7’s John McEachern, Jeff Yurek, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London (Health Critic), Patrick Brown, Leader of the Official Opposition of Ontario and CEO John Collie. The visit took place at Patrick’s Office at Queen’s Park to discuss public access defibrillation in Ontario.

“I had Instuctor Lisa 3 years ago and was fortunate to have her teach the course on February 11th, 2016. She is by far the best instructor I ever had and is very easy to understand plus, she makes the course interesting. Lisa’s teaching technique feels like I’m learning from a good friend.”

Joint health and safety committees (JHSCs) and multi-workplace joint health and safety committees (MJHSCs) represent workers and employers at Ontario workplaces. An MJHSC is a single JHSC, established and maintained for more than one workplace, each of which would normally require its own JHSC.

Some members of a JHSC must receive training called ‘certification’ to perform their duties effectively.

Rescue 7 is undergoing approvals of the new standards, and will soon be able to offer the required certifications for companies. The standards are as follows:

JHSC Level 1
1996 Standard: Minimum of 2 days
New Standard: Minimum of 3 days (19.5 hours)

JHSC Level 2
1996 Standard: Minimum of 1 day
New Standard: Minimum of 2 days (13 hours) and must be secured within 6 months of the level one and training must be provided by approved by the MOL.

Refresher Training
1996 Standard: Not required
New Standard: 1 day (6.5 hours) every 3 years
